Nevada Debates Online Poker Regulations

The Nevada Gaming Control Board continues to debate and examine possible regulations for offering online poker to state residents, looking to be well-positioned to offer online gambling if US laws change to allow it.

The debated proposals are in response to Governor Brian Sandoval granting the Nevada Gaming Commission the authority to adopt regulations for Internet poker.

The regulations currently include require operators of online games to hold a certain amount of money in cash reserves to cover player deposits as well as security policies in place to prevent underage gambling.

With the general framework in place the current discussions are focusing more on fine details such as whether player-to-player transfers should be allowed and whether or not players banned from brick-and-mortar US casinos should be allowed to play online.

While the Nevada Gaming Commission has until Jabuary 2012 to adopt the interactive gaming regulations many feel that legal online poker in the US could be a reality before then, with pressuring growing to tap into the hundreds of millions of potential tax revenue dollars at stake.
